Scott Fajack dedicated three decades to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), overseeing the planning and architectural design of over 30 Water System projects spanning Los Angeles, the Owens Valley, and Boulder City, Nevada. Twenty-four of his designs were successfully constructed, encompassing a diverse range of sizes, from compact 400 square-foot hydraulic control structures to an expansive 36,000 square-foot ultraviolet treatment plant.

After retiring from LADWP Scott worked at the architecture firm RAC and the custom fenestration manufacturer Studio Cortez.

For over three and a half decades, Scott has been actively advocating for the protection, expansion, and care of Los Angeles City Parks. Notably, with the Citizens Committee to Save Elysian Park (now The Friends of Elysian Park). Currently, Scott serves as a city commissioner, sitting on the Urban Forestry Advisory Committee.

Since their 1996 trip to the town of Nipton, California, Scott and his wife, Landscape Painter Mary-Austin Klein, have been exploring the remote regions of the Western states in their trusty 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser.
